Hellenic-Italian Conference on Computational Mechanics and Mechanics of Materials
June 19 @ 8:00 am - June 25 @ 5:00 pm

Large deformations, instabilities, and strong anisotropy are examples of extreme responses in material and structures.
Traditionally thought to lead to failure or loss of functionality, these have been exploited to design a new generation of reconfigurable,
harvesting and actuation devices that exhibit superior mechanical performance and have application in modern engineering fields.
Our mini-symposium aims to gather experts from the broad field of extreme mechanics of solids and structures.
The following non-exhaustive list provides examples of topics relevant to the mini-symposium:
• Extremely deformable solids and structures
• Reconfigurable and deployable structures
• Instabilities in solids and structures
• Soft and active matter mechanics
• Microarchitected materials and structures
• Variable domain mechanical systems
• Extreme and reversed properties
• Higher-order mechanical models
• Probabilistic modeling of rare events
• Analysis and design of materials and structures under extreme conditions
